History
Indigenous Australians lived in this area for over 40 thousand years. European settlers arrived in 1802. Between 1840 and 1936 the population of Port Lincoln grew massively. By 1936 the port was playing a critical role for commerce in the area. In 1971 Port Lincoln became a city.
