Parafield Gardens is a residential suburb in Adelaide. It comes under the local government area of the City of Salisbury. It has a population of 15,317 according to the 2011 census.

History

The area was first occupied by Indigenous Australians. You can still see an Indigenous Australian heritage site in the Greenfield Industrial Estate. Europeans settled here later. The area was used for farming in the early 1900s. A post office was established in 1961.

The suburb was first called Parafield Farm, but this changed to Parafield Gardens over time.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Residents in the area are well catered for. There are five schools to choose from, four of them public. There are also two shopping centres. Most of the suburb is made up of residential properties, but there is also an industrial area in the south-west.
