Located 20km from Adelaide’s central business district, the suburb of North Haven comes within the City of Port Adelaide Enfield region. It is a small residential area north of the Gulf Point Marina. The area is home to the Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia and several cricket teams too. There are many expensive properties in the area and it has a population of over 5,700 people.

History

After starting out as a private subdivision, the suburb was created in 1976. It was opposed by the Post Master General of Australia. This situation was due to issues of size and duplication of name elsewhere in Australia. Since then, the suburb has seen changes to its boundaries with particular reference to a portion of the outer harbour in February 2007.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

North Haven has a primary school and Ocean-View is the local High School. There is a large sailing community and the surf lifesaving club premises were completed in 2007. The suburb is serviced by reliable transport links including buses and 3 railway stations.
