History

Flagstaff Hill is named after the literal Flagstaff Hill, the location where Colonel William Light erected a flagstaff which was used as a trig point and landmark. During the late 19th century, the area was a farming and grazing region, before it was developed into a suburban area in the 1960s.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Flagstaff Hill is blessed with an abundance of local parks and reserves, including the Sturt Gorge Recreation Park. There is also a golf club, community centre, and scout and guide complex, as well as local schools. The area’s shopping centre, the Flagstaff Hill Shopping Centre, has plenty of shops and food joints, including a chicken shop, and a fish and chippery.
