Elizabeth is an outer suburb of Adelaide. It has a population of 952 and is part of the City of Playford.

History

In the wake of World War II, needed to grow. The state had a shortage of materials.As a result, Elizabeth began life as a planned “satellite city” in the 1950s.

The town was built between the existing towns of Salisbury and Smithfield. Queen Elizabeth II, for whom it was named, visited while on her tour of Australia in 1963.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Elizabeth is home to both Playford International College. The former town centre has become The Elizabeth Shopping Centre. The suburb enjoys many parks and reserves. These include Ridley Reserve and Dauntesey Reserve, among others.

The Central District Bulldogs play their home games at Elizabeth Oval. Soccer’s Playford City Patriots also call Elizabeth home. Their home ground is in nearby Elizabeth West.
