The inner suburb of Edwardstown is located 6km south-west of Adelaide is a part of the City of Marion local government area. The area boasts the Castle Plaza Shopping Centre and has a population of over 5,000 people.

History

The suburb takes its name from the lawyer William Edwards who laid out the town in 1838. The area is well known for its Baptist Church which has its beginnings back in 1904. In 1910 the church had grown to the point where a church building was needed and this was erected on land on South Road. The current church building stands on what was formerly the South Road Primary School.

There is a wide range of shops located in the Castle Plaza Shopping Centre and there are also several great bars and restaurants in the area too. The area has a vibrant nightlife and The Maid of Auckland bar is one of the most well-known popular venues in Edwardstown. The area is well connected to the highways network by a modern and efficient road system.
