History

The first people to live in the area were an Indigenous Australian tribe called the Kaurna. Europeans settled in the area later. Dulwich takes its name from a place in the London Borough of Southwark. The population of Dulwich increased rapidly between 1881 and 1891. In the early 20th century many businesses set up in the area.
