Burnside is a part of the City of Burnside in the eastern suburbs of Adelaide, SA. It has a population of 2,588 and is located 5km east of Adelaide’s city centre.

History

The first European settler to come to the area was the Scot Peter Anderson. ‘Burn’ is the Scottish word for creek, and as the area is located on the side of Second Creek, he named it Burnside. Three decades after Anderson had arrived, the area had grown to a village. It continued to grow in the early 20th Century and has now become one of the most sought after suburbs in Adelaide.
