With a population of over 4,000, Berri is a town in South Australia. Based in the Riverland region, Berri is 238km north-east of Adelaide.
History
The name Berri means “a wide bend in the river” and comes from the local Meri tribe. In 1910, an irrigation system was first established in Berri. The following year, in 1911, Berri was named a town. Due to the new irrigation system, Berri began to grow many vineyards and fruit orchards. In 1943, Berri Juices (also known as Berri Ltd) was born.

These days, Berri is a beautiful multicultural town. Locals and tourists love to go fishing, water-skiing and boating on the river. Active folks also enjoy going to Murray River National Park, which has great camping, birdwatching, canoeing, and bushwalking.
Berri still has a strong fruit industry. In particular, the growth of oranges and grapes is very strong. With 3000 hectares of irrigated fruit orchards in the town, industries like fruit packing, fruit juice, and wine are also a feature of Berri.
