History
The name Balaklava comes from the Crimean War Battle of Balaklava. Charles Fisher, an Adelaide grain merchant, established the town in 1870. Fisher built large wheat shops in hopes to draw farmers into the area. The town’s council had its first meeting in 1878. By 1885, Balaklava had a population of about 550 people.

There are a number of tourist attractions in Balaklava. Some of there are the Balaklava Folk Museum, the Lions Club Walking Trail, the Devils Garden Reserve and the Rocks Reserve.
