History

European settlers settled Angle Vale in the 1800s. They established a school in 1850, a chapel in 1864, and a post office in 1866. The town’s name describes the area, as an angled road cuts through it.

The Angle Vale Bridge was built in 1876 to allow settlers to travel across the Gawler River. It is a laminated timber arch bridge and is the only type of this bridge still standing in Australia.
