Yeronga is a suburb of Brisbane, Queensland. It is 7km outside the central business district. According to the 2011 census, it is home to 5,540 people. It is a residential area with the Yeronga railway station at its centre.

History

Yeronga was initially home to the Jagera people. They used to live south of the Brisbane River before the arrival of European settlers in 1823. Since then, the area has grown from a settlement into a city.
In Yeronga, the land was initially used for farming. The railway’s opening contributed to the area’s growth. After a few decades, the farmland was removed to make space for homes.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Yeronga features two shopping strips opposite the railway station, where one can find an array of stores. The suburb has many educational institutions, such as multiple primary schools and a public high school. It is home to a number of heritage-listed sites.
