Yeppoon is a coastal town and locality in the Shire of Livingstone, Central Queensland. Known for its tropical climate, beaches, and islands, it has a population of over 18,500.

History

The Capricorn Coast was home to the Darumbal Aboriginal people. Yeppoon was first settled by Europeans in 1865, when the Ross family took up a large area of land along the length of the Capricorn Coast.

Major industries of the town included fruit crops, cattle, and wool. Due to the tropical climate, pineapples, mangoes, and other fruit became an important part of the local agriculture.

In 2015, the cyclone Marcia destroyed more than 150 homes in Yeppoon and left more than 13,500 people without power.

The beaches and shallow coves of Yeppoon are a popular place for tourists and miners looking to settle down in Central Queensland. There are 27 islands offshore including Great Keppel Island. It also has a number of shopping centres.
