FAQs

  • I would like to add some lawn sprinklers to the ones I have in the garden, which run off a garden tap. How many lawn sprinklers can I add to the existing line in the garden?

It is not good practice to have both lawn sprinklers and garden sprays on the same line due to the different precipitation rates of the sprinklers and the sprays. Generally speaking, lawn sprinklers require much more water than garden sprays so it would be preferable to run a separate line for your lawn sprinklers so they can be run separately to the garden sprays. Then calculate the precipitation rate of the sprinklers and the sprays and compare that to the supply from your tap.

  • I am presently watering my gardens with a pump hooked up to my rainwater tank. How can I arrange it to switch over to the mains water when I run out of tank water?

You will need to have a "switch over" system fitted to your pump, which will automatically switch over to mains supply when the tank is empty. You will also need to have a "double check valve" fitted to the mains supply to prevent any (contaminated) irrigation water entering the mains system. (Better leave this one to the professionals!!!).
