History

The suburb gets its name from Queen Victoria.

Over time, the area is known for hosting the Eprapah, the Charles S. Snow Scout Environment Training Centre. This is an area of bushland that is used for environmental education for Scout and Guide movement members.

For decades, the area has been known for picturesque Thompson’s Beach. Many beaches in Queensland are open surf beaches. This is rare child-safe beach with a shallow slope and long tide.

In the last ten years, shopping facilities are multiplying making the area a new entertainment destination.
