Sunshine Beach is a suburb in Noosa, Queensland, located about 130km from Brisbane. It has a population of 2,288.

History

The area was formerly known as Golden Beach. It wasn’t very popular until 1928, when Thomas Burke bought land and started building roads and bridges in the area. When Burke’s son marketed the area as Sunshine Beach in the 40’s, it quickly became very popular with tourists.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Sunshine Beach features many beachside cafes and restaurant and is a popular spot for surfers. It has a lifesaving club that patrols the beach from September to April.

The area is home to many hotels for travellers who come to enjoy the beach, the sea and the sunshine. It also has a primary school and a high school. Sunshine Beach is very close to the centre of Noosa Heads and its many amenities.
