History

The Jagera people are the original owners of the land. The Williams family first settled in the suburb in 1868.

The name Runcorn originates from a town in Cheshire, England. A local settler Reverend Mc Laren named his property after it. The suburb name stemmed from here.

After the railway opened in 1885, settlement has expanded ever since.

In the early 20th century before urbanisation, farming is known to have been common in the area. The area became very developed after WWII.

During WII British Navy and US Army used the area extensively.
