Rochedale South is a residential suburb in Queensland. It is located 19km to the south of Brisbane Central Business District. It has a population of 14,996.

History

In 1952, an English family called Gill set up a farm in Rochedale South. They built the first sewered estate in the area. Many of the streets in the suburb are named after places in England.

In 1979, Rochedale South divided from nearby Rochedale. It is no longer a big farming area due to recent droughts.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Rochedale South is well located. It is close to Brisbane airport, and only a short drive from the Gold Coast. The Gold Coast is famous for its waves, and is very popular with surfers.

The Rochedale Rovers football club are based in the area. The won the 2010 Brisbane Premier League.
