Redbank Plains is a suburb of Queensland, 30km from Brisbane’s CBD. On the outskirts of the Brisbane Statistical Division, it has a population of 15,000.

History

Redbank Plains should not be confused with the neighbouring suburb of Redbank.

In 1874, the opening of the Redbank railway station created commercial growth close by. 5km from the station, Redbank Plains had the typical features of a small country village. These included a post office, a school, and places of worship.

As the Redbank area urbanised in the 1960s, this led to the creation of new suburbs including Redbank Plains.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The suburb is home to the Redbank Plains Library, located in Moreton Avenue. It also has a number of schools including Redbank Plains State High School, which sits next to a large recreation area, and Staines Memorial College.

The suburb’s shopping centres are found on the eastern border.
