Parkwood is a recently built residential suburb on the Gold Coast, QLD. 3km west of Southport, it has a population of around 8,500.

History

The residential suburb of Parkwood as a whole was developed in last 20 years. It falls under the Gold Coast City Council Division 6. It is bordered to the west by the Gold Coast Railway and the Pacific Highway.

The main industry in the area is the retail trade, but the majority of the residents of the suburb are technicians and trade workers. Parkwood is known for its leafy green streets and its well-maintained garden areas.

Parkwood is an entirely residential suburb. It is located near to Arundel State School, a few high schools, Griffith University campus, and the Gold Coast University Hospital.

There are a few shopping centres, a public pool, a few beaches, and a number of golf courses within a 0.5-10km radius of the suburb.
