Parkhurst is a suburb in the Rockhampton Region of Queensland. 644km north-northwest of Brisbane and 9km north of Rockhampton, it has a population of around 1,400 people.

History

Established in the 1850s, the Glenmore Homestead is one of the earliest in the Rockhampton area. Small farms were set up in the area when the land was opened up for settlement. In 1900, Parkhurst Provisional School first accepted enrolments. In 1909, the school became Parkhurst State School.

The suburb is bounded to the north and west by Ramsay Creek, and to the south by Limestone Creek and Yeppoon Road. Most of the suburb is farmland, but due to Rockhampton’s urban sprawl, a number of residential developments have been built throughout the suburb.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Parkhurst features Parkhurst Town Centre, a shopping centre that is anchored by a Woolworths supermarket. The Woolworths was the first store to open in the shopping centre on 15th November 2016.
