Park Avenue is a suburb in the Rockhampton Region of Queensland. 3.7km north of Rockhampton, 720km southeast of Townsville, and 620km north-northwest of Brisbane, it has a population of over 5,350 people.

History

The suburb is a mostly residential suburb with an industrial area in the south and another industrial area in the northwest. No one knows for sure why the suburb got its name, but Queens Park on the northern shore of the Fitzroy River is a possible reason for it.

The local primary school, Park Avenue State School, opened on the 7th October 1901.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The suburb is home to a state school, a Catholic primary school, and two Catholic secondary schools that merged in 1983 to form Emmaus College.

Park Avenue is also home to Stockland Rockhampton, a major shopping centre found in the eastern corner of the suburb.
