History

Oxenford is named after a man called William Oxenford. He had a farm in the area. He was known as an experimental farmer.

The South Coast Railway line reached Oxenford in 1889. A hotel was built on the banks of the Coomera River, and a village grew up around it.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Oxenford is full of entertainment. There are several theme parks nearby including Warner Bros. Movie World and Wet n’ Wild. It is great for kids.

An area to the south of the suburb, called Studio Village, has all its streets named after Hollywood people or things. A number of well-known films were made in the area, and the biggest purpose-built film water tank in Australia is located here.
