Noosa Heads is a town and suburb on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. With a population of over 4,000, Noosa Heads is 136km north of Brisbane.

History

Noosa Heads takes its name from the Aboriginal word meaning “shade” or “shadows”. The Kabi tribe were the first inhabitants of Noosa, and visited the area 40,000 before the first European.

In 1828, David Bracefell visited Noosa and opened up the area to Europeans. Since the 1890s, Noosa Heads’ beach became a popular tourist attraction and has remained so ever since.

The beachy Noosa Heads has much to offer visiting tourists. Bicycles and motor scooters are a popular way of travelling throughout the area.

If you’re an animal lover, you can see many koalas in and around Noosa National Park. Noosa Lions Park is another area that hosts many events. These events include the Noosa Triathlon, Noosa Food and Wine Festival, Noosa Winter Festival, and the Noosa Classic Car Show.
