Narangba is a suburb of Moreton Bay Region, QLD, 34km north of Brisbane. It has a population of over 16,000.

History

The suburb possibly gets its name from the native word meaning “small ridge”. This describes the area where the railway station sits. It used to be part of an area known as Stoney Creek.

First called Sideling Creek Station, the railway station was later named Narangba.

Narangba has rural origins but is being turned into a residential suburb due to the award-winning Development Control Plan.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

A community shopping village sits on Main Street opposite the train station. For select items, there’s a modern shopping precinct at the new master planned estate of Forest Ridge.

The suburb has many parks and community open spaces that span many kilometres in every direction within Forest Ridge. It is also home to four schools including Narangba State School.
