History

Before European settlers arrived in the 1860s, the area was home to the Mipirimm people. The land was sold at auction in 1882. The suburb takes its name from Manly, New South Wales. The Manly boat harbour opened in 1958.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Located in Moreton Bay, Manly is a popular location for boating. The Manly Boat Harbour is the largest in the Southern Hemisphere. The suburb is home to several boating clubs. These include Darling Point Sailing Squadron, Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club, Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron, and Wynnum Manly Yacht Club.

There are also several buildings of historical interest in Manly. These include the Manly Retaining Wall, the Manly War Memorial, and the Michael Gannon residence.
