Main Beach is a coastal suburb in the City of Gold Coast. The suburb is located in the heart of the Gold Coast’s main area, and has a population of 3,496 according to the 2011 census.

History

Main Beach was once known as Southport East, and the area was once the hub of activity on the Gold Coast. The beach, Main Beach, got its name as it was the main surf beach for the town. In the 1920s, the area became more popular with the construction of holiday houses and guest houses. Today, many hotels and theme parks occupy the land in the suburb.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

As a coastal town, Main Beach’s surf lifestyle gives the area a relaxed, laid-back feel. Today, the Main Beach Parade has plenty of resorts and tourist parks. There is also a surf lifesaving club in the area, and a fish market. The main attraction in Main Beach, however, is the popular Seaworld Theme Park, which has polar bears, marine animals, and rides.
