Landsborough is a small town in Queensland. The Sunshine Coast suburb is home to over 3,700 people. You can find Landsborough 82 kilometres north of Brisbane and off Steve Irwin Way. To the north of Landsborough are the Glasshouse Mountains, and to the south is the Blackall Range.

History

Landsborough gets its name from the first European to cross Australia north to south. This man was William Landsborough from Britain. In 1871, the area saw the arrival of its first European settlers. Back then, Landsborough was known as Mellum Creek after the Aboriginal word for ‘volcano’.

While Brisbane is 82 kilometres away, the North Coast railway line runs through Lanesborough, making trips to the city easy.

The town sees a lot of tourists pass through it because of its association with a tourist trail. For the 3,700 people living there, there are a lot of parks to enjoy picnics in and playgrounds for the kids.
