A residential suburb of the Sunshine Coast, Kuluin sits in the Maroochydore urban centre, west of Maroochydore CBD. It has a population of over 2000.

History

Thought to derive its name from the Aboriginal word for “black swan”, Kuluin became a suburb in 1991. Previously, Kuluin was shared between Maroochydore and Buderim.

Kuluin State School opened in 1987 and a shopping centre was later opened opposite the school. Both bordered on the west by the Tallow Wood Environmental Park, with three parks nearby: MacArthur Park in the east, the Maroochydore Soccer Club’s venue in the west, and an unnamed park in the north. Extending to Eudlo Creek further west is the industrial suburb of Kunda Park.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Kuluin is home to Kuluin State School, catering to students from Prep to Year 6, as well as two shopping centres. One opposite the school and one near the soccer venue.
