The town of Keperra is located in the suburbs of Brisbane. It has a population of more than 6,500 people and boasts a 27-hole championship golf course.

History

The town was named after an initiation ceremony performed by indigenous tribes who have inhabited the area for many years. When the town and surrounding land was settled by Europeans in the 1800s homes and a church were quickly established.

The Keperra Golf Club was opened in 1931 and still exists today with a 27-hole course.

A military camp was set up in the 1940s and oversaw the construction of many of the area’s roads. In the 1950s land was transferred from the military to the Housing Commission.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

As well as the long-running golf course, the town has a football club, and offers lots of outdoor pursuits in the Keperra Bushland.
There is also a large shopping mall in the town.
