History

Europeans came to the waterhole of Jacobs Well from the mid-1800s. It is part of the historic farming district of Pimpama Island. During the wet season, lagoons and swamps cut the area off from the mainland. This is why it was known as an island. The wet conditions were perfect for sugar cane.

The area is known as Jacobs Well after its freshwater waterhole.

The community of Jacobs Well is located just a short drive off the Pacific Highway. It is halfway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. The village is surrounded by fields of sugarcane. It is popular with boating and fishing enthusiasts.

A shopping village has everything locals need to get by. There are cafes, eateries and a popular Irish pub. There is also a small supermarket, chemist, and doctor’s surgery.
