History

Before European settlers arrived, Grange was a quiet area, made up of open grassland and wooded plains. The urban development of the suburb didn’t begin until 1903, when T.K. Peate’s property was subdivided. The suburb’s name comes from Peate’s first property, which was named after an old English word meaning granary. Most homes in the area are built in the Queenslander architectural style.

Grange is home to the Wilston Grange Australian Football Club. The local team, the Gorillas, has represented the area in AFL since 1943. With its close proximity to the city, locals in Grange can quickly access the cafes, shops, and commercial offices of the city’s CBD.
