Based in Queensland, Eagle Farm is an industrial suburb in Brisbane. It lies 6km away from Brisbane’s Central Business District. According to the 2011 census, nobody lives in Eagle Farm. The suburb reportedly takes its name from the many eagles who inhabited the area.

History

Eagle Farm has its beginnings in 1829, when Captain Patrick Logan chose the site to farm maize, cattle and pigs. In 1834, Eagle Farm introduced field labour in the form of female prisoners. By 1836, 40 female prisoners worked on the site.

In the 1850s, local indigenous tribes set up camps in the area. These include the Wide Bay Aborigines, the Ningy-Ningy tribe, and groups from Bribie Island.

These days, Eagle Farm has many heritage-listed sites. These sites include the Allison Engine Testing Stands, Eagle Farm Women’s Prison and Factory Site, and the World War II Hangar No. 7.
