Durack is a south-western suburb of Brisbane. It is located 15km from the central business district. It has a population of 6,177.

History

One of the first landowners in the area was called Michael Durack. In 1976, a local newspaper ran a competition to name the suburb and Durack was chosen after this man.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Durack has several schools including the Australian International Islamic College. Most houses are situated to the west of the suburb. In the east there are a number of facilities including a caravan park and bowling club. There is also a showground for dogs, and a park. The park follows the line of a Blunder Creek tributary.

The suburb has bus routes that connect it to nearby railway stations, and also the Brisbane central business district. The second most spoken language in Durack is Vietnamese.
