Based in Queensland, Deeragun is an outer suburb of Townsville. It lies 16.5km west of Townsville’s Central Business District. According to the 2011 census, Deeragun has a population of over 3,500 people.

History

Established in the 1990s, Deeragun is a new suburb. However, it opened its first local school in 1911. In 1992, St Anthony’s primary school opened. Five years later, in 1997, the Northern Beaches State High School opened.

Much of Deeragun’s original houses were built by the Housing Commission.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Deeragun is home to the Woodlands Centro shopping centre. This facility gives locals access to a post office, supermarket, medical services, and more. The suburb also has a police station, churches, and skate park.

Deeragun is known for the Saunders Creek nature strip, and the hill at Innes Estate. Locals can take advantage of the Hermit Park Bus Service through the Route 33.
