History

Two indigenous groups occupied the area of Deagon before European settlement. Remnants of Aboriginal camps are preserved near Cabbage Tree Creek.

Deagon was born as a suburb when a railway line reached the area in 1887. It was named for former local mayor William Deagon. He owned a local hotel.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Cabbage Tree Creek separates Deagon from local wetlands. The rich habitat offers a home to native birds and tea tree woodland.
Locals can shop at the local IGA supermarket. Fast food eateries, bakeries, a gym, and bottle shop are also available.

Sandgate District High School is located in Deagon. It has good facilities and attractive grounds. The school hosts Sunday fruit and vegetable markets.

A railway line and bus services connect the suburb to Brisbane CBD.
