Dayboro is a town in Moreton Bay, Queensland. It has a population of more than 1,600, and is located 46km north-west of Brisbane.

History

Known as Hamilton and Terrors Creek at various points, Dayboro’s current name was bestowed in 1917. It was given in honour of William Henry Day, who kicked off the town’s sugar industry in the 1860s. Fruit and dairy would become the town’s main exports, and it joined the railway line in 1920. The Dayboro line would go on to find infamy as the site of Queensland’s worst ever rail disaster, the 1947 Camp Mountain Rail Accident.
