History

The area has a number of heritage-listed sites, including Cooloola Tramway and Double Island Point Light. Cooloola Tramway was added to the Queensland Heritage Register in 2013. The Double Island Point Light was entered in 1998.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The area has two beaches. Rainbow Beach extends to the west and to the north. Teeth Beach stretches down to the south. Just off the coast is Wolf Rock, Queensland’s most important habitat for the endangered grey nurse shark. The area is part of the Great Sandy National Park.

It is mostly undeveloped, except for the Cooloola Great Walk. It’s a 5-day walking track through to Rainbow Beach in the north and Noosa North Shore in the south.
