Burbank is a large suburb of Brisbane, Queensland. It is located 21km from Brisbane General Post Office. In 2011, the suburb had a population of 1,137.

History

The area was once known as Upper Tingalpa. It was one of three areas that made up the original settlement in the Capalaba region.

There are a couple of theories on how it became Burbank. The first is that it was named after local horse dealer Frank Burbank. The other being that it was named after Alfred Harry Burbank, resident and surveyor between 1890-1908.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Burbank includes the Brisbane Koala Park which was built to help protect the thousands of Koalas living in the south-east of Brisbane. It remains largely a rural area with a number of small creeks dotted amongst the landscape. Mt Petrie is located just to the north of the suburb.

Burbank has been purposefully designed to keep the population low. Residents benefit from sizeable acreage plots of land, many with sprawling gardens and large homes.
