History

Bundaberg East was home to many industries early in its history. The town had Millaquin sugar refinery, several timber yards, a rum distillery, and a gas works. None of these would have been possible if a bridge hadn’t been built across Bundaberg Creek in 1878. A school was built for the worker’s children in 1886.
