The town of Bulimba lies just four kilometres from Brisbane’s CBD. It has a population of 5,900 and lies on the banks of the Brisbane River.

History

The area was populated by indigenous tribes as long ago as 20,000 years. It was settled in the 1820s as a farming community, with more residents being attracted to the town during the late 1880s housing boom.

The town’s state school was opened in 1938 and it is now a heritage site. A number of other noteworthy buildings in the town include Bulimba House, the Memorial Park, and St John the Baptist Anglican Church.

The town benefits from close links into Brisbane’s CBD for travel and retail opportunities.

It also has a number of sporting amenities including a golf course, Bulimba Sports Club, and the Riverside Rebels Rugby Union Club.
