Bardon is one of Brisbane’s inner city suburbs. According to the 2011 census, it has a population of over 9,200 people. Bardon neighbours Red Hill, Ashgrove, and Toowong.. It lies 5km from Brisbane’s central business district.

History

Before 1925, Bardon was known as Upper Paddington. Englishman Joshua Jeays built a villa in the area in 1863, which he named Bardon after Bardon Hills in Leicestershire. The Ithaca town council renamed the suburb Bardon in tribute to the area’s connection with Joshua Jeays.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

For your everyday essentials, there’s a small shopping centre and a few restaurants in Bardon. These are generally found around Macgregor Terrace. But at just 5 kilometres from Brisbane, a bigger selection of shops and restaurants are within easy reach.

If acting, singing and dancing are your favourite hobbies, you can find a community arts hub in Purtell Park. Around 400 youngsters rehearse there every week.
