FAQs

  • What is the "20-day rule"?

This rule has been implemented to ensure that the PBS remains affordable and people don't stockpile medication. Under the rule, which states that you cannot count the value of a script towards the safety net if you don't have the 20 days grace period between dispensing (or 4 days for eye drops). And if you have somehow lapsed between your scripts, and in need have them filled, we can still process them for you, however, as stated, they will not contribute to your annual amount.

  • Leaving my scripts on file with you?

No problem - we are just a phone call away, we can have them ready for you to collect or for us to deliver (conditions apply). You won't have to carry the script/s, or worry about lose them. Leave to us before work, and collect them before home, it's that convenient!

  • How long is a prescription valid for?

A prescription is valid for 1 year from the date of prescribing.

  • How do I qualify for concession pricing?

To qualify for concession pricing you must be held a valid concession or pension card issued by Centrelink or the Department of Veterans Affairs, or a CN / SN card (concession safety net card). Below are those accepted concessional cards:

  • What is the safety net?

Its a scheme in place to reduce the amount of money Australian families spend on medications. Once you reach a nominated amount each year, a safety net card (either a CN ¿concessional¿ card or an SN ¿safety net¿ card) will be issued and will receive the reduced cost on your medication for the reminding year.

  • What is a ¿Private¿ drug?

    1. That is not listed on the PBS, and NO subsidy from the government. Or, 2. Some drugs listed on the PBS are below the current threshold (e.g. less than $36.10) and it would save you money by selecting as private script, and in most cases, discount will be applied while dispensing. Being dispensed as a private drug, it will not be counted towards your safety net.

  • Leaving my scripts on file with you?

No Problem ¿ we are just a phone call away, we can have them ready for you to collect or for us to deliver (conditions apply). You won¿t have to carry the script/s, or worry about lose them. Leave to us before work, and collect them before home, it¿s that convenient.

  • What is a generic brand and are they the same as the brand my Doctor prescribed?

Often these different brands are less expensive than the original brand and are called generics. Many generics on the market are actually made by the originator brand and hence are identical. Generic brands are the same in terms of how they work in the body and the benefit you receive. Under one circumstance that we cannot supply a generic if your doctor has put a cross in the ¿Generic brand substitution prohibited¿ box on your script.

  • Current cost under the PBS?

Its the Commonwealth Government Scheme that subsidises for Australian, the maximum that a general patient will pay in 2013 is $36.10 with additional brand price premiums set by the government and a concession patient will pay $5.90, again with additional brand price premiums set by the government. These brand price premiums can be avoided by selecting the generic brand, as they do not have any surcharges.
