Based in New South Wales, Yennora is a suburb in Sydney. It falls under the City of Fairfield and the Cumberland Council. As part of the Greater Western Sydney region, Yennora lies 29km west of Sydney’s Central Business District. According to the 2011 census, it has a population of over 1,400 people.

History

The name Yennora comes from the native word meaning “to stroll” or “walking. The Cabrogal tribe are the original inhabitants of the area.

Europeans settlers arrived in the area in the early 1800s.

In 1927, the NSW Railway Department built a siding platform in Yennora. In 1955, the area opened a public school. In 1971, the Wool Stores opened.

These days, Yennora is a mixture of industrial and residential areas. YCH Logistics and the Yennora Distribution Centre make up much of the suburb.
