Wingham is located on the upper reaches of the River Manning in the Mid North Coast region of New South Wales. The small township is 335 kilometres north-east of Sydney and has a recorded population of 5,313.
History
Wingham is the oldest town in the Manning Valley. It is named after Wingham in Kent, England. The area was initially inhabited by Kattang Aborigines. In 1841, George Rowley established the first European settlement. Wingham was proclaimed a village in 1844 but despite its slow growth, became the main centre of the Manning Valley.

The tourist area of Wingham Brush is popular for its remarkable Moreton Bay Fig trees which are home to a colony of Flying Foxes.
