Warilla is a coastal town in New South Wales within the Wollongong area. It has a population of over 6,000 and is minutes away from some beautiful beaches.

History

Settlement of Warilla dates back to the early 1800s. The area started to grow during the late 1800s and early 1900s. It wasn’t until the 1950s and 1960s when lots of houses were built in the town.

The name Warilla comes from a rearrangement of three of the syllables in the word and area of Illawarra. Warilla officially became a town in 1951.

Warilla is home to some amazing views and beautiful beaches. There are some great parks in the town and well-kept public areas. Shopping options include Warilla Grove for all basic essentials. You can find Shellharbour Square nearby, as well as restaurants, cinemas and clubs.

The town is serviced by trains and buses. In addition to excellent local facilities and open spaces, Warilla has The Warilla Sports Cricket Club and a couple of schools.
