The Entrance is a large town on the Central Coast. It has a population of 3,873.

History

Governor of Tasmania, Colonel David Collins, first saw the area in 1796.

“Karagi” is the original name of the locality. It is an indigenous term meaning, ‘the entrance’. In 1911, the current Anglo name was adopted.

In 1850 the Taylor family bought most of the land in the area. Many of the streets in The Entrance are named after members of the family.

The area continues to grow. Growth began expanding rapidly after the railway from Sydney to Newcastle opened in 1889.

The modern area is surrounded by water on three sides. As such, it features panoramic ocean views. The Entrance is a well-established holiday destination for decades.

The local area features luxurious hotels and fine dining restaurants. It has a Gold Coast, Queensland vibe in New South Wales. Retirees and families love the area for its coastal lifestyle.
