Tahmoor is a small yet growing town in the Macarthur region of New South Wales. It has a population of over 4,500 and is considered a quiet and peaceful area.

History

The town of Tahmoor was originally called Myrtle Creek. It was mainly used for farming and later changed its name to Hume Highway. In 1919, the new Main Southern Railway line opened and included a station named Tahmoor. While a local businessman wanted to call the town Bronzewing Park, it was decided that it would become Tahmoor instead.

In 1898, a road bridge was built to help dairy farmers send their produce more safely to local railheads.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Tahmoor has a country feel to it and boasts lots of new shops and houses. It has three major supermarkets, as well as many fast-food outlets and restaurants.

Also, there are sporting fields, a skate park and a BMX park.
