History

Summerland Point was first established as a suburb in 1924, under the name of just Summerland. It was known as both Gwandalan West and New Gwandalan at various times, before Summerland Point was finally settled on.

A popular boating area, Summerland Point plays host to the Central Coast Triathlon Club. This club holds monthly races. Summerland Point is often visited by people exploring Lake Macquarie, which keeps the local fish and chip shop thriving. Three other restaurants are based here too, along with a supermarket and various other shops.
