History

Seaham is located in an area of land the surveyor and explorer Henry Dangar set aside for a township. In its early years, the suburb acted as something of a crossroads, joining surrounding centres. Both floods and bushfires have caused damage in the area over the course of its history.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Seaham has a number of local landmarks. In 2002, the suburb celebrated the anniversaries of various, long-standing institutions. This included the 150th birthday of the local primary school. Other amenities include an Anglican Church and a cemetery. The suburb boasts the Seaham Swamp Nature Reserve. The swamp is home to a number of bird species, including the cattle egret. It also houses a historic quarry.
